The BRRA Committee asked some of our younger members whether they would like the Association to
extend its activities to include cross country as well as show jumping. They were enthusiastic and helped
the Committee prepare and submit a proposal to the local young people’s charity CAFFY for £500 towards
the cost of some new cross-country jumps. They were successful in their application and the new jumps
will be available for our Eventer Trial on 30th August. As part of the grant application the young members
agreed to assist in the organisation of the Trial. Congratulations and a big vote of thanks go to our young
members!
The Committee has decided that to reduce paperwork, all subscriptions will run from September to August.
The cost is still £5/member (with special reductions for families – check details with Sue O’Connell). This
will cover all the events organised by BRRA (and Leicester Dressage Group – see below) which run mainly
from Autumn to Spring. Next season the cost of a clear round for members will be £5, and for non -
members will go up to £8. Non-members will still be able to join on the day and save money as before. The
more members we have the stronger is our voice when dealing with the Council and seeking grants to
improve our facilities. Don’t delay – join on the day!
Leicester Dressage Group (LDG) and new events programme.
BRRA was approached by LDG to take over the running of the Group, as they no longer had the resources
to continue. Your BRRA Committee agreed and you will find Dressage events included in our programme
for next season, set out below. Please support these new events. BRRA is pleased to have been asked by
LDG to run these events and they will be organised to the same BRRA high standard that you are used to.
In general, Clear Round events will be on the 3rd Sunday. This year Dates for dressage events have been
chosen to fit booking availability at Blaby Mill Stables. Any queries regarding Dressage, please contact
Sue O’Connell. 07791 611223
Don’t forget, we are always on the lookout for new Committee members and helpers so please volunteer.
